A little bit about me…

Hi, I’m Karli!

I am an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner (Canadian College of Osteopathy graduate), Registered Massage Therapist (Sutherland-Chan graduate), and McGill Method Certified Practitioner. Before pursuing a career as a manual therapist, I completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from McMaster University and a Master of Science from the University of Waterloo. I have worked with a variety of athletes ranging from weekend warriors to elite youth to NHL players; as well as, chronic stroke survivors, cancer survivors, and chronic pain populations. I currently work with all age populations, from babies to seniors, to address a variety of local and systemic issues. Helping those with chronic low back pain is of particular interest to me!

As a former varsity soccer athlete who has experienced too many injuries, I recognize the importance of manual therapy for injury prevention, rehabilitation, and the maintenance of overall health. Countless misdiagnoses of one injury in particular and four years of pain, frustration, and an extreme sense of “feeling blue” sparked my interest in manual therapy. There was no way I wanted to let anyone else experience the prolonged pain and discomfort that I endured and so I began my pursuit into the manual practice of osteopathy.

My treatments involve soft tissue and fascial release, joint mobilizations, craniosacral therapy, and visceral mobilization as they are appropriate for the patient. I also teach patients a variety of stretch, mobility, stability, and strength exercises to help maintain and further enhance healing. All together, I work with each individual to instill efficient movement patterns for pain free living and optimal performance.

My holistic approach to recovery involves finding and treating the root cause of the problem in order to help the body help heal itself. I believe proper manual therapy, rehabilitation exercises, and some coaching guidance, when applied in the right situation, can positively influence both recovery and performance.
